Prayers are needed

Painter Pack Mom here. I am asking everyone to pray and send good vibes to our big moose dog, Jack. He's our lab mix. Jack was our first dog and is only 6 1/2. But this morning, my son found a large knot on his side. It's just about where his front, left shoulder would be. The knot is about the size of a golf ball and seems semi-firm. It is very obvious now when he walks. I swear, it came up over night.

I called the vet and we have an appointment Saturday morning. His assistant said that the knot would be evaluated and that it might not be anything. But you all know what I am thinking.

For a long while, my son and I have said that Jack was acting like an old man. He hasn't been his normal fiesty self for months and months. But we just thought it was age...or maybe arthritis. I was actually going to ask the vet about the possibility of arthritis on his next vet visit.

Thank you to everyone on this site for the love and friendships.

Will it kind of move like it is attached to the skin or does it stay in place like it is attached to the bone?

If it moves, it MAY be a lipoma which is a fatty tumor and not something to stress about. Tasha had several that we didn't remove until they interfered with her movement.

Positive thoughts being send your way.

We will be crossing all the paws and fingers in this house for Jack.. Princess Eva is right, I once had a similar knot right at the top of my head (semi hard and apparently appeared over a day or 2.. it started off small like a insect bite then progressively got to the size of a golf ball in 2 days). Fortunately it was just some fatty tissue and eventually subsided away... **sending you pawsitive vibes**

I also hope it's something like Brice and Princess Eva think. My mom has a fatty tumor that showed up when she lost weight (on purpose). My paws are crossed for you dear Jack.

We will definitely pray for Jack! We had something like that on a basset my mom was fostering. A soft lump the size of a pingpong ball. The vets decided to 'keep an eye on it'. But when we took the basset to another vet several months later--he tested it and found it was stage 4 lymphoma--so my mom & I say get it tested! If nothing else, to give you peace of mind!

love & wags & prayers,

oh---hopefully this is not serious--but we certainly know what it is like to worry about such things. could it possibly be just a fatty lump? i think they are common in that area--keep us posted! xo
